Representative Experience

Ty brings extensive experience to his construction and surety practice, representing industry stakeholders—owners, developers, contractors, subcontractors, and sureties—across both routine and highly complex matters.

His project portfolio spans diverse sectors and scales, from residential developments (apartment complexes, condominiums, and townhomes) to commercial properties (office buildings), specialized facilities (assisted living centers), and critical infrastructure (reservoirs, public roadways, and educational facilities). This breadth encompasses both private development and public contracting, each requiring an understanding of distinct regulatory frameworks, procurement processes, and risk profiles.

Ty's surety expertise encompasses the full spectrum of bond-related matters, from routine claims resolution to complex performance bond takeovers, a process that demands both immediate crisis management and long-term strategic planning. Ty has navigated these situations, coordinating with replacement contractors, managing existing subcontractor relationships, addressing material supplier arrangements, and ensuring seamless project continuity while protecting the surety's financial interests.

Ty manages the financial recovery aspects inherent in performance takeovers, pursuing comprehensive indemnity actions against principals and indemnitors to recover completion costs, delay damages, and related expenses. These recovery efforts often involve sophisticated asset tracing, preference payment analysis, and multi-party litigation across various jurisdictions.

The scope of his practice—from standard construction disputes to sophisticated commercial  matters—positions him to address the varied legal challenges inherent in today's construction industry. Whether handling straightforward payment disputes or navigating multi-party, high-stakes performance issues, Ty provides clients with proven experience across the full risk spectrum of construction and surety law.

This comprehensive background enables him to anticipate potential issues, structure effective risk mitigation strategies, and deliver practical solutions tailored to each client's specific project and business objectives.
